Privacy Policy

BrowserGotchi is built with privacy in mind. Here is exactly what data is collected and why.

What data do we actually collect?

Default (no account)

Nothing — zero server contact
All data lives in your browser only

Optional account

Username (you choose it)
Password (hashed, never readable)
Pet stats if you sync them

If you purchase

Email address (for license key)
Which features you bought
No payment card data stored here

Local Storage Only

All pet data — name, stats, bond level, mood, type, accessories, and background — is stored exclusively in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the optional cloud sync feature.

Optional Account & Cloud Sync

If you create an account, your email address and a hashed (bcrypt) password are stored on our server. You may optionally sync your pet state (name, stats, level) and friend codes to the server so they are available across devices. This data is stored securely and is never sold or shared with third parties.

Payments

Payments are processed by Mollie B.V. Your email address is shared with Mollie solely to complete the transaction. BrowserGotchi stores only your email and which license features you purchased. No full payment card data is stored on our servers. See Mollie's privacy policy at mollie.com/privacy.

Friends Feature

If you use the Friends feature, a short randomly generated friend code is stored on the server and associated with your account. No personal data beyond your account email is shared with friends.

No Tracking or Analytics

BrowserGotchi does not use any analytics, ad tracking, or third-party telemetry. No browsing history, visited URLs, or behavioral data is ever collected or transmitted.
