FAQ
Is BrowserGotchi free?
Yes — the core experience is completely free. Your pet lives, hungers, bonds and grows at no cost. Optional premium packs unlock extra pet types, cosmetics, effects and music tracks.
Does it track my browsing history?
No. BrowserGotchi never reads, stores or transmits your visited URLs or browsing history. It only reacts to general activity signals (time of day, tab count, idle state) that never leave your device.
Where is my pet's data stored?
Entirely in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to any server unless you create an optional account and choose to enable cloud sync. Without an account: zero server contact.
What data does an account require?
Only a username and password — no email needed just to create an account. An email address is only required if you make a purchase (so we can deliver your license key). Your password is bcrypt-hashed; we never store the plain text.
Can my pet die?
Yes. If hunger, happiness or energy reach zero for too long, your pet passes away. You can revive it via the Tic-Tac-Toe minigame tokens, or restart fresh at any time.
How does Bond Level 100 work?
Clicking your pet earns Bond XP. Once you reach Level 100 your pet gains a permanent golden glow and a sun appears in its scene — a cosmetic reward that stays forever, even through deaths.
Does it slow down my browser?
BrowserGotchi runs a lightweight tick every 60 seconds in a background service worker. CPU impact is negligible — measured at under 0.1% on idle devices.
I found a bug or have feedback — where do I send it?
Please email browsergotchi@diedigitale.at. This is a one-person side project and every report genuinely helps.
