FAQ
Good questions
Is BrowserGotchi free?
Yes. Raising your pet is completely free: seven pets, five worlds, seven mini-games and the whole growth system. Optional one-time purchases add extra pets, worlds, games and cosmetics. No subscriptions, no ads.
Does it track my browsing?
No. BrowserGotchi never reads, stores or sends the pages you visit, and the extension contains no analytics or advertising trackers.
Where is my pet stored?
On your device, in your browser's local storage. Nothing leaves it unless you create an account and switch on cloud sync.
What does an account need?
An e-mail address and a password. The e-mail lets you reset your password and receive licence keys. Your password is stored only as a bcrypt hash and the app keeps a revocable session token, never your password. You can delete your account and all synced data any time in the extension (Menu → Privacy).
Can my pet die?
Yes, if a need stays empty too long. By default your pet rests gently while the popup is closed, so it won't starve overnight. If it does pass away you can revive it with a token — win one at Tic-Tac-Toe — or hatch a new egg.
How does growth work?
Care for your pet and click it to raise its bond level. At levels 10, 30, 60 and 100 it evolves: hatchling, junior, teen, adult, and finally a golden legend that glows forever.
Will it slow my browser down?
No. The pet only updates while the popup is open. The optional cursor follower is a tiny sprite and is off by default.
